About Health Sharing Compass
Health Sharing Compass is an independent publication that explains health care sharing ministries in plain English. We want to help you understand how these programs work, read their guidelines with a critical eye, and decide whether health sharing fits your situation or whether you should look at health insurance instead.
What we cover
- Health sharing basics: how sharing works, how it differs from insurance, pre-existing condition rules and who it suits.
- Reviews: program-by-program breakdowns built from each organization's published guidelines and pricing pages.
- Comparisons: side-by-side looks at published prices, sharing limits and waiting periods.
How we write
- We use primary sources. Prices, limits and rules come from each organization's own website and sharing guidelines, or from state insurance regulators and the NAIC. Every article lists its sources.
- We don't invent numbers. If we can't find a published figure, we say so instead of guessing.
- We use the right words. Health sharing is not insurance, so we don't describe it with insurance terms like "coverage" or "premium" except when we're explaining the difference.
- We update. Each article shows when it was published and last updated. Programs change their pricing and guidelines often, so always check the current version before you join. If you spot something out of date, please tell us.
What we are not
Health Sharing Compass is not a health care sharing ministry, insurance company, agent or broker, and we are not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by any organization we write about. We don't enroll members, process sharing requests or have access to anyone's medical information.
How we make money
Some pages contain affiliate links. For example, we may participate in referral or affiliate programs offered by health sharing organizations, including America's HealthShare. If you enroll through one of those links, we may earn a referral fee at no extra cost to you. Pages with affiliate links carry a notice near the top. See our affiliate disclosure for details.
Who writes the guides
Guides are researched and written by the Health Sharing Compass editorial team.
